The Hunt for a New Finance Director is On!

The Centerville City Council accepted Finance Director John Meyer's letter of retirement at its Jan. 28 meeting and quickly took steps to find his replacement.
Meyer submitted a short letter on Jan. 23, citing a “deteriorating medical condition and related limitations” as the cause for his retirement, effective Jan. 30.
“It's really with a heavy heart that the City of Centerville accepts Mr. Meyer's retirement letter,” Mayor Mary Capra said. “Meyer was an outstanding employee for the city, leaving big shoes to fill with all the talents that he brought to the council.” The mayor added there would be a potluck for his retirement. “If he is able to come back, we will certainly welcome him,” she said.
Because Meyer leaves an important position open, the council went to work immediately to seek a new financial director. The opening will be posted immediately. City Administrator Dallas Larson expects a new financial director on board within two to three months at the earliest.

Centerville paid Mr Meyer the Finance Director over $80,000 annually. We are currently paying over $90,000 to our City Administrator Dallas Larson. Could these positions be shared with Lexington and Circle Pines? We already share our police with them. Many small cities team together for these larger salaried positions in the interest of saving their citizens tax dollars.

As usual, the council is reacting and not using those thinking caps. If the position is so "important" his leaving during an audit is alarming.
If they must hire a new finance director it should be one of our Centerville citizens. There must be many qualified people in town and they should use the city hall sign to advertise the job for FREE!

How's this for a cost of living increase.
Dallas Larson City Administrator
2005 starting salary of 73,500
2006 salary increase to 83,000
2007 salary increase to 93,752
2008 and 2009?
File a public data request, pay $40 per hour for research and 25 cents per page to get copies of it.
There is no transparency in this city for a reason.

HOLY CRAP!!!
Who gets that kind of a raise?!!
What has he done to reduce our taxes since he's been the administrator? If you include special assessments, our taxes have increased under his watch!
GO BACK TO CANNON FALLS! Oh, that's right, he can't, he was FIRED from that job. Must be fun driving home each evening...
We should just fire everyone here and start over. Preferably with people that actually live in Centerville.
90+K plus 80+K is insane for a population of 3,800.! Don't forget the money being wasted on our "engineer" that also draws a salary from Bonestroo!
This is mental!

Did you mean to say this is the mental inability of our Council to see things for what they are...

I can't believe this. $90,000 to a City Administrator! $90,000 to a Finance Director! I want a job at the City! Another trail and street improvements that don't need it. This insanity has got to stop! We need to embarras the snot out of them. We need to take our City back. We need to organize a rally at the City Hall and call all the news stations. We need to expose this insanity! If we don't, they will tax us right out of our homes. Many of us will lose our homes with this continued insanity! The nation's debt is NOW $7.3 trillion and growing rapidly. We cannot spend our way out of this. $3.5 trillion of that is being given away by the Federal Reserve Bank and Bernanke refuses to say what they are doing with it. The suspicion is it is being shipped to offshore banks. Derivatives in the quatrillions. The next thing to implode is the commercial, credit card, etc. and this city continues to spend like we are immune to what is going on? The size of this town and the economy in the tank there should not be anything going on in this city. They could all be working out of their homes.
TOTALLY EXASPARATED!!! I for one am going to boycott the City by not partaking in any annual public activities that the City sponsors.
Anyone else? Maybe that would make the news. A little embarrasing?

I know one thing the City Admin. is good at and it is retaliation against anyone who speaks up or stands up for the rights. Is that worth $90+K. That's how they try to control the people in Centerville.
