Bonestroo $35,000 Request Shaved to $16,632

The request made last fall by Bonestroo representative, Mark Statz for an additional $35,000 to oversee work done on CSAH 14 was finally decided this evening.
New Council member Ben Fehrenbacher crunched the numbers and suggested a dollar amount between 0-$16,000. After discussion, it was determined to pay out $16,632 for the additional 189 hours submitted. Significantly less than the original request.
Great job Ben!
Ben Fehrenbacher and Jeff Paar voted against.

Tom Lee also did a good job of being a "watch dog" of our money. Guaranteeing that this would never happen again.

Looks like Bonestroo was trying to pull a fast one and didn't get away with it. From requesting 35k to accepting under $17k is very suspicious!
I don't want to hear any council member complain about the cost of the state audit after this evening.

According to Dallas Larson the state audit has been completed and they are writing the report.
Curious that he requested a copy from the state before it goes public.

All is very interesting that Bonestroo would accept half of the original asking price. In a large corporation, this would never have happened.

Bonestroo did not have a choice in the matter. The City can only pay what the council passes.

Why would we expect anything less from our city administrator (in title only)? Gee I wonder what he wants to read before anyone else? Maybe he thinks he can "convince" someone to change something on it before it goes public? Such as the city's futile attempt to sabatoge the petition for the audit?

That's good! I never heard of ANY BUSINESS waiting (and working) 20 WEEKS to discuss additional charges with a client.
Bonestroo is lucky they got anything above the original agreement.
This is one time I would say that the city was looking out for the best interest of the citizens.

Note to Bonestroo:
Next time keep the line of communication open and you won't look guilty in the eyes of the public.

But he voted to pay the extra money didn't he? In the interest of saving time, Tom cast the tie breaking vote.
