2009 Street Special Assessment Hearing Scheduled for 1/21/2009

Another resident request today at 10:26 a.m.

Please move this to the top of the blog - our next meeting is next week.

I'm concerned that the city is going to be faced with budget cuts, but just to shove this down the residents throat, they will go ahead, despite the economy and pending city cuts!

Well, if they do go through with this, which is the MOST IDIOTIC THING this city could do, they will just have to cut the City Administrator's, City Attorney and City Clerk's salary to make up for revenue loss!

I disagree that this is the most idiotic issue the city could pass.
Just take a look at the empty storefronts in Circle Pines, Lino Lakes, Lexington and Hugo.

They are determined to do the same thing here. Paar and Capra ran on the downtown redevelopment issue.
68% of the town voted against Capra and 73% against Paar but they still think they have a mandate!

The City attorney and administrator both expressed concern for local business survival during the last council session when the liquor licenses were reviewed. They even went to far as to suggest the council cut the number allowed by the State.

Nazi-ville!

Hey, what does the city staff make? That would be good information to publish on the blog.

"they will just have to cut the City Administrator's, City Attorney and City Clerk's salary to make up for revenue loss!"

Good idea but that will NEVER happen. Instead we will all be assessed again or charged a new "protection fee" such as the creative fire fee they just passed forcing people that don't have city sewer and water to pay up.
I'm moving as soon as I can sell my house.

Good Luck selling your house. Unfortunate you have to feel that way, but I have to admit, I feel the same way!

Although someone on Old Mill Road thinks his house on a lot that runs on top of the road and on top of the creek will sell for $469,000!!

I sure will be doing more checking on the next city I choose to live in!!

Why on earth would any city rush the street improvement when the country, state, and our city are in a big recession? What is the rush to do this?

Other cities are putting a freeze on spending. OH Centerville isn't. The city just doesn't get it.

We should all object to our assessments in writing at the hearing just to let them know where we stand..............STILL.

Our economy is even worse off then it was in June (when they passes the project)

Why can't they postpone this project until things turn around?

What is the big push?

I can still recall the Mayor/Council stating how much money has already been spent on this project! I just can't believe they won't stop this! Its obvious none of them have or are in fear of losing their jobs and why on earth would they leave town, they control everyone/everything! Why would they move, when all they have to do is talk to the two monkey's in city hall to get ordinances changed to benefit them and their friends!

There is nothing in this project that has an immediate need! Once again this hearing will just be another "going through the motions" meeting, just so the city can say they met their legal obligation! I hope the hell everyone shows up, we need to be there in numbers, just like last May!

Sorry this is so long - had to vent!!

I haven't checked but if the City is adding fluoride to the city water they could stop doing that and that may save quite a bit of money. Everybody go to the website Fluoride Alert and find out how dangerous it really is to our health and pets. Even taking showers and watering your food gardens with fluoridated water is detrimental to our health. It is not necessary to add fluoride to our water. There are many cities across the U.S. that have now removed fluoride from their city water due to the outcry of their citizens. This may be our next request from the City. Fluoride is a poison and they worry about private wells contaminating the city water. The city water is already contaminated if it has fluoride in it.
