God knows that their selection will be someone that tows the line and votes to spend, spend, spend our money!
The council should be contacting each of the five other persons that ran for election last year.
Instead, they will probably sneak someone in under the table.
I don't trust our local government including the Mayor anymore.
Mary Capra should remember that there were 1,251 votes cast against her not quite a majority win of 777 votes when making this decision.
We WILL take Centerville back next year! Just wait and see.

The fact that so many people ran for election against the current administration should have shown these morons that the citizens are not happy with their leadership.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. If they appoint anyone that did not run in the last election, they will be crucified at the polling booths!
Looking forward to watching the show.

Go Neale!!! It should be Neale's seat if he so desires!!!

Why waste the over-paid City Administrator's time on reviewing applications, when a simple call may fill the vacant seat???

Why are they even considering applications when there were so many people that ran for council last year?
It is a fact that at least two candidates have not been notified of the opening as of this writing.

Looks as though the council votes are more important than the citizens votes.

Never took Tom for a quitter. There must be something more behind this.

It doesn't appear that the State gives any directive as to how the Council selects prospective candidates.
It would make sense for this Council to appoint someone that has ran previously and received votes from the constituency.
Considering the number of citizens that threw their hats into the ring last year, it would make sense to contact each one first.
Beginning with the candidate that received the most votes.
In our case, the candidate is indeed Neale Rawlings, then Tom Fairbrother.

Let's see if the Mayor & Council are public servants that are "OF the people, BY the people & FOR the people." If so, it would STAND TO REASON that if those who ran last year apply for this remaining term, then the PEOPLE'S vote should take precedence (the next in line). We shall see....
