What About That State Audit?

We have been hearing from residents questioning the status of the State audit. Here is what we know today.

The audit was completed between November and January.
Centerville will be charged approximately $60 per hour for the investigation. We do not know how many hours will be billed.

The audit is currently under review.
Centerville will not be charged for the review process.

The review completion is done in multiple steps.
The audit of Cambridge was not released for nine months.

At this time we are waiting for a phone call from the State and have no inside information as to the approximate completion date.

Per Minnesota Statute 6.715
Data that support the conclusions of the report and that the state auditor reasonably believes will result in litigation are protected nonpublic data or confidential data on individuals, until the litigation has been completed or is no longer being actively pursued.

Whether the formal proceedings against a Centerville business is related to the audit or simply coincidence is unknown to us at this time.

CENTERSTONE TITLE LLC
Respondent created and controlled sham affiliated business arrangements; and provided other forms of kickbacks to referral partners in exchange for the referral of title insurance business.

Thank you to everyone that has supported the State audit. We will continue to do our best to keep you informed of our findings.
Have a great weekend!

Thank you for all your hard work. The blog is amazing!

Didn't our recently retired finance director insist on using Centerstone Title above all others?
There are links with him and Bonestroo in other cities, too.
Interesting stuff. I am hopeful that this is just a coincidence otherwise, heads will roll!

Do I understand you correctly, the finance director insisted a citizen use Centerstone Title when he had some association and/or link to that company?

If I understood you correctly, that is just great, another example of how corrupt gov't gets without having to "answer" to anyone!! Just Amazing!! What a bunch of crooks - UNBELIEVABLE!!
Makes you want to deter any friends or relatives from moving here!

I am a Centerville resident who sold property to the City. At that time, we personally requested to John Meyer (Centerville's Finance Director) that we would like to use a friend's Title company for the closing. This friend was also a resident of Centerville, though his business was not located in Centerville. We thought this would please the City as we believed they would like to support it's local residents, as well as the local businesses. However, to our surprise, John Meyer strongly suggested we close with "CenterStone Title LLC".

Is it a coincidence that Meyer retired in the midst of the audit? Mary Capra doesn't think so.. She has suggested a "pot luck" dinner in honor of all his hard work.
Yeah, right! Get a clue!!

Capra also ran for reelection based on the money he brought to Centerville. She totally bragged about bringing him to town!

If there are any discrepancies, she is the one that deserves credit.
Thanks for reelecting her.
I did not.

Just a thought..............

but I don't think anyone who is following this blog "reelected" any of our current council.

We need to get "the other people" in the town to read this blog so we can get those people out next election.

I believe Lee is up next.
