Process Begins for New Centerville Trails

At its Feb. 25 meeting, the Centerville City Council started the process of making sure the Transportation Enhancement Trail Grant project becomes reality.
“We want to make sure we are poised to take advantage of that money if it comes available to us,” said City (Bonestroo) Engineer Mark Statz. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has said that Centerville is a viable candidate to receive funding, he added.

The first order of business for the council was to approve consideration of a plan and fee proposal from Bonestroo, a St. Paul-based engineering firm, for the Transportation Enhancement Trail Grant project. For its designs and permit submittal work, Bonestroo will receive $128,000 in fees.
The next task for the city is to make offers to purchase right of ways from property owners along the proposed trail.
In other actions, the council:
*Unanimously awarded the contract for the 2009 Pond Dredging Project to the lowest qualified bidder, Dresel Contracting Inc., for $73,525.
*Unanimously approved consideration of Bonestroo's scope and fee proposal of $3,000 for construction services on the 2009 Pond Dredging Project. Work will begin immediately to take advantage of cold temperatures and last approximately three weeks, Statz said.
*Unanimously authorized the city administrator to enter into a contract for soil borings and engineering reports, not to exceed $10,000, for a pedestrian bridge.
*Unanimously authorized the city attorney to begin litigation for delinquent assessment payments against Fairview Street (Royal Oaks Realty).
*Approved special assessment agreements for the 2009 Street Improvement Project.

Did council get that in writing or even contact the DOT to confirm? What was the name of the person that said Centerville is a viable candidate to receive funding?
It seems rather dumb to spend 128,000 for something the city may NEVER receive based on the word of one person that may have a conflict of interest.
Who does this Statz guy work for anyway? Bonestroo or Centerville?
I would love for the city to answer my questions since everyone knows they spend a lot of time on this blog. In fact, I would like to see the city start it's own blog to answer for some of the decisions being made around here!

Thank you for the outlet! Thank you for watching!

Remember the story of the rooster guarding the hen-house?
This is akin to the engineer guarding the engineering fees!

UNBELIEVABLE!

Yeah, and the administrator we pay almost 100 GRAND ANNUALLY allows it to happen.
So much for being good stewards of our money.
We can't save money for road maintenance my rear end!
WTF?!
Hopefully the sleeping majority will wake up!

Grants are Great When You Can Afford Them
BENSON, Minn.—Minnesota cities are struggling in the down economy and in Benson, finances are so tight that it's decided to send back $167,000 in state transportation money.
City Manager Rob Wolfington says they money is going back to the Minnesota Department of Transportation because the city can't afford its share of matching funds.

Wolfington says the city received the grant in 2006 for a trail extension that would cost about $280,000 to build.

With matching funds and the required engineering costs, the city would be on the hook for nearly $115,000 to build ............

WHY CAN'T OUR CITY OFFICIALS GET A CLUE LIKE BENSON?

3 OF MY NEIGHBORS HAVE BEEN LAID OFF FROM THEIR JOBS AND i HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO 32 HOURS A WEEK........THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO RACK UP DEBT.......GRANT MONEY IS NOT FREE..........................................IDIOTS

They don't seem to realize there is a bottom to the barrel. They vote on things without thinking them through. Is that how they management their own purse strings? These people are so irresponsible. I would like them to come clean and let the citizens know how much money Centerville has to kick in for these project.

We must continue to flood every city council meeting with residents whether the agenda really pertains to us or not. We need to let them know that we are really watching and we must stick together and stick up for each other's rights. If one resident is being retaliated against by the City, then we must all go to a City Council meeting and tell them we won't stand for it. If you don't, it will continue and you could be next.

The New World Order wants to own 50% of our land. They are doing it through an agreement called "The International Property Maintenance Agreement." Did our city sign on? The Feds are going around bribing cities, police chiefs, county sheriffs and other government entities with money to get them to go after residents to keep stripping our rights away and take our land. This is true. Some are waking up and saying no but we must learn the truth to expose or educate our officials. You have to all wake up or you will wake up to nothing. Even the officials that have taken the bribes, they are fooling themselves if they think they are exempt because they signed on. They are being used and will eventually become victims of this New World Order once they have no further need of them. This is not a partisan issue. Both republicans and democrats have been guilty of helping plan this New World Order for years. Do your homework and you'll find out it's true.

Ministers are telling people to accept this New World order. This is so WRONG! They are being manipulated by that 501 tax exemption. They are deceiving us and they must be called out on this. Jesus denied evil right to the very end and died on the cross for us. You have to learn the true word of God through the King James Bible to make sure your minister is telling you the truth. God expects you to seek the truth. You are supposed to always check man's word to make sure you are being told the truth. Laziness is not acceptable to God. Remember God's judgment begins at the pulpit. This means anybody that is a teacher of God's words that are not teaching the truth will be judged harshly but that still doesn't leave us off the hook because we are supposed to check to make sure the true word of God is being taught to us. Ask those ministers and hold them accountable and tell them you want the whole Bible taught to you including Revelations truthfully! Tell them to get a spine and stand up against the New World Order. Your soul depends on this. Don't worry about what some minister might think of you. Worry about what God thinks of you. Too many of us have put our ministers up on a pedestal. This is wrong. Only God should be up on that pedestal. Ministers are supposed to be shepherds of their flock and continuously feed us with the WHOLE truth.

Read about how Hillary Clinton has signed over some of our land and future land of America to the Chinese in exchange for the debt of ours that they have incurred. See FederalJack.com Also go to Alex Jones at Infowars and Officer Jack McLamb websites and read and listen to their radio broadcasts and really learn what's going on in this country. These other conservative talk radio hosts are controlled by the media that pays them. The sites I have mentioned back up all their information with actual documentation and creditable guests. This is actually happening. Please wake up and if you consider yourself a christian and claim that this is biblical and we should let this happen, only God knows for sure when Christ will return. Until then you are supposed to fight evil and Revelations tells you how to distingish between the Antichrist and Christ so you are not deceived and you are to deny the Antichrist. If you accept the New World Order, then you have accepted Satan rather than God. Again, Jesus denied Satan to the end. Aren't you supposed to do the same? I know I will fight this evil to the end because that's what God wants us to do and any minister that tells me differently is WRONG! Think about it! Read your Bible and find out the truth for yourself.

He works for BONESTROO! Follow the link that proves it. How disgusting is it that we have a man sitting in on the council meetings with his own personal agenda. The fact that the company he works for benefits from his suggestions is disgusting!!
Either the current council is stupid or they are getting a kick-back.

Thank you for reelecting them!!!

We are in an economic crisis here! We should NOT be spending money on anything that is not necessary!
Of course, if you have an engineer that has the best interest of the company he works for advising you...
You end up with the disaster we call Centerville!

Would love to move but I owe more money on my home than it is worth.
For the a-holes mocking me...
Purchased in 2005 for fair market value with no additional loans. SOL for a 70,000 loss. Telling me to move is ridiculous because I would if I could.
Our city officials need to get a clue and STOP spending our money like a bunch of drunken soldiers.
The city needs to wake up!!!!

Meanwhile, Centerville is busy spending an additional 128K on engineering to chase something they might never see. I wish the dude from Benson was running our town. He sounds like a smart man.
I propose we pass an ordinance that all elected officials take an IQ test. Pretty sure that the city attorney would be happy to bill the city for drafting it by the hour.
STOP THE INSANITY!!!!

WITH NO DEVELOPERS ON BOARD NOW WE ARE GOING TO HAVE ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL PATHS TO.................. NOWHERE..............BRILLIANT

Anonymous said...

We don't have to have all those paths. Our City could do the responsible thing and give the grant money back. Benson, MN did it because they didn't have the matching funds nor the inflated egos we have here in Centerville.
