Nasty Conduct, Nasty Email, Nasty Accusations!

9/25/2008
The city officials were having so much fun, exercising their first amendment right at last nights council meeting! They spent over 40 minutes bashing the citizens of Centerville and this blog. This happened after they discovered we are $35,000 over budget on the City's enhanced utility work and streepscaping. Was this due to poor planning? What other financial surprises are in store for the City?
We, the Citizens for Ethical Taxation and Representation are a very large group of concerned citizens who are watching for ethical, truthful behavior and accountability from our representatives. Whether spending our money or representing our community, their behavior last night was absolutely juvenile and wholly unacceptable!
Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that some members of council have received nasty, and profane emails from citizens in our community. We would like to go on the record, stating that NOTHING has been sent by us. (Except one message of thanks to council member Vickers regarding her stance on the road maintenance fund. She has not replied) We do not condone such behavior and resent the implication that we are somehow behind it. We challenge our city officials to show the emails they claim to have received from anyone associated with this blog.
Statements made to the press in recent times by staff and elected officials have been filled innuendo and half truths. We, the citizens will not give in to the the intimidation techniques used by council, staff or the city attorney! We also have first amendment rights!
All the whining from our council members reminds us of the New York Yankees that did not make it to the play-offs this year, for the first time since the mid nineties. There is one distinct difference between the Yankees and our council... The Yankees will definitely be back next year!

The city defended the police force budge last night that I didn't associate with this blog or the neighborhood meeting. Hopefully the understanding of the police force budget can get clarified through some media source.

I am also pleased to hear our City Administrator defined eminent domain as public uses only, not eminent domain to build multi-family homes. This is a different message then previously communicated back in 2006.

Also, since I have been walking the neighborhood and hearing all the feed back from the citizens and after listening to last nights meeting, I can say unequivocally that the City Council does not understand it's constituents complaint. The colored concrete and lamps ARE useful if indeed the citizens are eager to fund and grow our town into an Edina. This is not what the citizens want, this is clearly what the City Council wants.

The contempt on display during that council meeting was disgusting!
They are all for the citizens, as long as the citizens AGREE with them! If not, the citizens are fear mongers spreading unlawful accusations...
They appear to be scared and in damage control mode. The citizens of this city are smart and should indeed be given credit for recognizing a sham when they see one. The sham is not being perpetuated by this blog, as they would like us to believe.
Thank God we have the chance to vote a few out of office this November. I can't wait!!!

Dallas must be worried about losing another job. Thank you for holding their feet to the fire. It's about time someone did something! I signed the petition and urge everyone to do the same!

Someone looked a little nervous giving his presentation about Citizen communications. Is he worried history is going to repeat itself with a 5-0 vote?

The city attorney better not be paid for investigating this blog with my tax dollars!!!
Freedom of speech, under attack, is alive and well in Centerville!!
I read nothing that is an "unlawful accusation." I just read about my city spending more money it doesn't have!
STOP IT!!!!!!!!
Power to The People!

In the 9/24 council meeting Linda Broussard Vickers gave her speech where she states "There's been a lot of beating up on past decisions we've made." Well, when the citizens are telling you over and over again to STOP SPENDING MONEY and the behavior continues I think the "beating" up is warranted because you are NOT HEARING US.

One has to wonder about this "show" they put on in the council meeting on 9/24 if the open meeting law was violated. It sure seemed rehearsed to me. That's my opinion anyway. Lakso must not have gotten a script since she didn't say a word. Was it me or was Paar campaining? You can't do that on City time, right?

It seems the city can't control their spending. Like gamblers can't control their gambling. The council still hasn't got the message from the people of Centerville, STOP SPENDING!
