Could the positions of City Administrator and Finance Director be combined? If the Finance Director has to "step up" to fulfill the role of Administrator in his absence, why is our Administrator unable to fulfill the role of the "subordinate" Finance Director position?
Finance Director Employee Position Description Here
What exactly does our City Administrator do for the $90K+ salary (with full benefits) he receives?
Incidentally, the Finance Director position pays another 80K+ with full benefits.
In the interest of saving money and covering our current $120,000 budget shortfall, is this a bad idea for a city of our size?

This is a GREAT idea!!! The people behind this blog should run for office. This make the most sense I've heard in a long time!
Hallelujah!!!
"Why is our Administrator unable to fulfill the role of the "subordinate" Finance Director position?"
GOOD QUESTION!
He obviously is not qualified to do so. Has anyone checked his education?
It's pretty pathetic that the council meetings are not posted online this morning, considering the next session is in two days.
What does that administrator do to earn his salary, anyway?
Thanks for the TV schedule. I always watch it from home, it's nice to know I can catch it at a more convenient time.
think how much money we can save by hiring a part time Finance director like most small towns.
I also like the idea for the City Administer taking on the duties of Finance Director. Aftter all how much work is there to runn a small town like Centerville.
Maybe he wouldn't have time to retaliate against the citizens.
Linda Vickers wants to hurry with the hiring process. "The sooner the better" in her exact words.
During the April 8th meeting council will decide how to proceed. Looks like it is a done deal. :(
Linda's seat will be up for reelection in 2010.

Somebody at city hall finally updated the "brief" list of council meetings this afternoon.
Glad to see they eventually do their jobs. LOL!
Administrator position deserves 90 thousand plus each year? In the private sector, someone would have been let go a long time ago.
Nice work CCETR, this blog is the only reason those council meetings were updated. Way to go!!
Does the City really want the citizens to know what is going on about town? Doubtful.
There is a FREE sign in front of City Hall that they continually refuse to use.
Thank you bloggers! Just the fact that the City doesn't list the re-aired council meetings and you do is proof positive that you want the residents to know what the heck is going on here.
Thank You!!!

For any upcoming council meetings....
Yes, the Easter Egg hunt is far more important than the Board of Appeal and Equalization Hearing!
There is a reason they don't use the sign at City Hall. They better not dare to bring up spending money to change out the existing sign for a new one that matches to colored concrete!
