We are an informal group of citizens united in holding City Officials accountable for their actions. All residents of Centerville are welcome to speak out and be heard here. Centerville consistently ranks in the top three highest taxed cities in Minnesota, there is no dedicated road maintenance fund and the assessments keep coming! “I don’t think there’s any way we could ever budget enough to not assess people for improvements.” Council Member Jeff Paar. Council Meeting July 10, 2008

Well I guess that $22,920 loss is going to mean Centerville will need to accept the free entrance signs from the county instead of purchasing new fancy ones!
Does Centerville even have a reserve?
This is good!
LISTEN ESPECIALLY STARTING FROM THE 3rd MINUTE!!!!
I believe it would be prudent for Council to take heed!
All that whining about losing our LGA, one would have thought it was a lot more money. I will remember the dollar amount next time I hear someone in town talking about it.
Thanks for the link.
The lack of LGA is not that big of a deal for this city in 2009... we were not going to get any in the first place. However, Circle Pince and lexington are different stories. They will take a hit and this may require Centerville to pay a larger share for police protection. The state is also no longer providing the money for the homestead credit, so the city will have to pay for this as well.
I am personally not a fan of LGA. It is a tax we pay (via sales tax) and get little to no return. It also helps put Centerville in the higher per capita tax bracket since the city budget does not get subsidized like our neighbors.
The lack of LGA for Circle Pines and Lexington will definitely be an issue when it comes to paying for our joint police force... Wait and see.
Centerville better start looking to cut spending somewhere. The trails and grants might be a great place to start. Be like Benson and send the grants back!!!!
Repeal the $128K to Bonestroo for the Transportation Enhancement Trail Grant project! A pipe dream that may never come to fruition.
STOP wasting our money and become fiscally responsible for a change!!! People are hurting here!
Local government officials...
"We're going to plow our streets every other blizzard."
UNBELIEVABLE!
Did you hear that..."40 to 50 percent" of their budget should be kept in reserve.... hmmm I'm sure we would be lucky to have 10% of our budget in reserve.
