I would like to see the updated council minutes. What have they been up to?
I am also waiting to see how much my taxes have gone up. Will this information be available before election day?
Doubt it.
We wont see updated minutes or tax increases, but the city is going to make sure the new downtown lights are up and running before the 4th. I wonder if we will pay overtime to get the other half of the lights installed for the grand ceremony on Oct 29th! What ceremony is that, oh the one that only council will attend, because no one else has been informed. Why haven't the citizens been informed you ask? Because we may not have enough time to get the lights in so we don't want to assume anything to the public, but the council and others are on stand by just in case it does get done.
If they do have the lights completed in time for the election, it may just backfire on them. Many people are angry that we paid so much money on the streetscaping but are being assessed for road improvements. The lights being on will be a reminder for people as they walk into the voting booth.
I heard there is going to be a lighting ceremony. With all the light on the whole city will light up. The tax payers will pay for the electrical bill. Wonder if they tought about energy efficient lighting. I doubt it.
As someone once said, "Inuendo is a tactic employed by small minds."
If you are wondering if the new lights are energy efficient, why don't you ask?
I applaud your concern and encourage you to express your thoughts for the new downtown. I will also remind you that the city meetings are posted, open to the public and welcoming of input. Why haven't you been attending? Bitching after the fact is not a very effective way of implementing change.
Many people do attend the council meetings from the comfort of their own homes. That is obvious from the recent posting. If you check the city website it is almost two months behind in updating the council minutes!
It is pointless to sit in the council chamber when residents are not allowed to speak out "under advice of legal council" anyway.
Yep, checked the City website and the last update was 8/27/2008. They have been busy trying to demean the residents though and are doing it on the home page.
Looks like somebody has them running scared. I LOVE IT!

Just exactly what do we get for our money areound here? It is no privledge to live in one of the highest taxed city's in the state.
Why would anyone buy a house in this City unless the special assessments which we don't even have a dollar amout for (and will not before the election) are paid off. Face it, we are stuck unless we do something to change it.
We can change it on November 4th! Get rid of everyone that we can and do it all over two years from now!
The days of running unopposed are long gone...
